Mission
The Office of International Affairs, plays a central role in developing the AMSSA strategy for pushing African Safety and Security missions overseas and actively engages foreign allies to improve international cooperation for the development of policy, security, supply chain security, maritime safety, environmental security, training and law enforcement developmental opportunites.
The AMSSA Office of International Affairs:
Provides the Secretary and the Department with policy analysis and management of the international affairs and foreign policies that impact on AMSSA actions. African maritime safety and security policy is multifaceted and successful implementation requires that it extends beyond African borders and into the international community.
Engages foreign allies in regards to developing agreements that further support the over-arching mission and submissions of AMSSA
Responsibilities
The AMSSA Office of International Affairs:
Advises, informs, and assists AMSSA central agency and where agreed to African Member States and other stakeholders on strategies, foreign policy matters, and the Department programs and operations that impact on African international relations.
Builds strong support for actions against maritime crime and global terrorism among nations and international organizations.
Manages international activities within AMSSA in coordination with other Governmental officials with responsibility formaritime crime or counter-terrorism matters.
